Hi, I hope someone might point me in the right direction.
I have limited SAP exposure but have been a software engineer for 20 years.
The company I work for develops an off-the-shelf product that uses data that has a good fit with that in the Product Lifecycle Management module of SAP. We have signed up to the PartnerEdge program so that we can work toward a level of data integration. From our research the CA-PLM certification is what we aim for, and looking at the CA-PLM Overview document supplied by SAP we see the general source of "tables" from where we would get data from. The Overview illustrates what transactions are available, but we need to understand what data fields are exposed.
We expected to get this type of information when we signed up, but my SAP customer liaison has advised that any technical question must be directed to the SCN. If anyone can help point me in the correct direction for any of the following questions I would be very grateful:
- What is the best method to have a .NET C# application query a client's SAP PLM data (preferably exposed via a web service)?
- Where can we find out what fields are available for the objects described in the CA-PLM interface (e.g.: Bill Of Material, Master Equipment Record, etc)?
- What development tools are provided as part of the PartnerEdge developer license? (e.g.: Can we get a copy of NetWeaver and how can we build ABAP code to provide customised data extraction)
I realise that these questions probably show how little I know about SAP, but we expected some introductory material from SAP upon sign-up.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
