Hi Guru’s,
Can SAP be configured so a new batch header is created automatically for an item from the outbound delivery order? The item in question is the “parent” of a sales BOM? We are running ECC 6, all the items in question are/have to be batch managed and must interact with our QM module via the batch header.
Background,
We sell a product into many different markets and for various reasons each market requires us to deliver under a different sku. We manage this by re-coding the stock product into whatever sku is required, this creates a batch header that links any sales to our QM module, enabling batch selection and CofA generation from the OBD order. However this process is becoming un-manageable as its increasingly difficult for users to know what sku to recode too! We are looking to use sales BOMS to add automation to this process. For all the possible sku’s (parent) we have created a standard sales BOM that consumes the stock product (child).
The problem we have encountered is that because there is no stock or goods movements for any of the new “parent” sku’s, no batch header is created. The batch header is our link into the QM module so the process consequently fails. We thought that when processing the OBD order, copying the stocked “child” batch number up into the “parent” a corresponding batch header would be created on saving, but it doesn’t. As you’d expect with this, on saving we also get the message. (Invalid batch ### according to selection criteria in batch
determination Message no. VL215).
Hope you can help or point me in the right direction?
Many thanks
